The Charles County Board of Education received funding for an update for K12 school visitor management software.
Nelson Sample, procurement manager for the public school system, said a committee was formed “to add an additional layer of security for our students in our schools.” The committee looked at three vendors and chose Ident-A-Kid’s visitor management software. With Ident-A-Kid, visitors must scan their ID, such as a driver’s license or military ID, and an instant background check is performed. If the visitor is a registered sex offender, school officials receive immediate notification. “The system, I think, is a benefit to our schools in the sense that it does offer things other than the background check,” Sample said. For example, in the case of custody battles, the school will have the ability to check anyone attempting to pick up a child.
